STEM Racing UK is a hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) competition where student teams aged 9-19 Design, Analyse, Make, Test and Race miniature F1 cars via project-management, CAD/CAM, manufacturing and marketing skills. text goes here

Developed to be accessible to all students, and to encourage and progress learning, the competition is segmented into different categories which are tailored to Key Stages of the national curriculum. These are Professional Class (KS4/5), Development Class (KS3/4), Entry Class (KS2), and Primary Class (KS1).

Each team can compromise of 3 to 6 members. A school or organisation may register up to 5 teams for a Regional Final.

Entry Class is £25 + VAT per team, Development/Professional Class is £100 + VAT per team.

No, teams can undertake the STEM Racing project within school even if they choose not to attend a Regional Final. However, if you choose not to compete you should inform the organisers that you are participating in-school.

Teams are required to manufacture their cars from the official STEM Racing Model Block, which can be purchased here.

Teams first compete in a local Regional Final. Regional winners advance to the UK National Final. National champions may then be invited to the World Finals.

STEM Racing offers support in areas such as CAD design (for example free access to software like Autodesk Fusion and Ansys), manufacturing techniques (CNC, 3D printing), project-management, marketing and public speaking.

Yes, there are comprehensive competition regulations and technical regulations documents which teams must adhere to (car dimensions, safety, components, presentation, etc.). Teams should review these carefully in advance.

Registration is open now for the 2025/26 season, and schools/organisations register their teams via the website here. Regional Finals start in November 2025 and the UK National Final is planned for March 2026.
